Hello world!
Posted by Nanci Barthelmess on 19 September 2007
Ahoy! I decided I wanted my own blog. My brother, Peng, used to run a WP blog so I figured this would be a great platform to use. He knows he’s going to be called upon to provide some support from time to time, and he’s fine with that. He knows I won’t ask too often.
Why do I say I’m an avatar?
I’m on SecondLife, and I decided that I’d continue to use this persona on my blog as well since that’s how so many people know me.
What will I be blogging?
I run a store in SL called Nanci’s Naughties where I sell tees that my brother have made, and every now and then I’ll post an update about the store.
In addition I’ll be blogging about some of my favorite subjects, namely open source software like Firefox and Thunderbird and the Ubuntu flavor of Linux. I’m currently running Ubuntu 7.06 Feisty Fawn, but the next version, Gutsy Gibbon, should be hitting beta status next week and I’ll be posting about my experiences with it when I make the upgrade.
Yes, I help beta test software, because I believe in not just using great software but helping to make it better. I can’t code, but I can help test and file bug reports to make sure that the developers know about them so they can try to get fixed.
I’m also a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, so don’t be surprised if you come across a post about their fight to reach the postseason, although I won’t be blogging as much as my brother did.
Coming Soon
There are already some things I plan on blogging, plus I have some sites to post links to in the sidebar. I’ll try to get them posted in the next day or so.
And in case you missed it, today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Just don’t use it as a chance to make me have any scurvy dogs walk the plank. Savy?
