Nanci Barthelmess’ blog

This almost cries out to be on a t-shirt

While catching with the blogs on Ubuntu Planet today I saw something that should go on a tee if it only weren’t so long:

While it’s probably fine to make an ass out of yourself, please don’t apply the same logic to others.

It’s on a post about some of the attack blogging currently going on about the KDE desktop, and the author, Sebastian Kügler, makes a really good point.

Trying to ridicule other Free Software people’s work is counter-productive to the cause of getting more people to use Free Software.

He actually makes several good points, and not just about slamming a software platform that you don’t use. Whether you use GNOME, KDE, or some other desktop system in Linux, or even if you don’t know what any of those letters mean, everyone should read On recent Anti-KDE blogs.

It turns out I’m not the only one that says this belongs on a tee. I showed it to my brother, Peng, and he says it not only belongs on a tee, but if he still ran his blog he’d add it to his list of Words to Live By and kill the rest of the list of random quotes that got posted. And this from a man who ran a blog specifically set up to talk about some of the really stupid things people in the public eye do.
