Lost your old Mozillazine account? You can get your posts back.

Posted by BostonPeng on 16 November 2007

At the end of last month I went to MozillaZine’s forums to check on an issue with the Gmail Notifier extension after Google rolled out an update to one of my accounts, but I couldn’t log in for some weird reason. It turns out it was a known issue, and many people’s old accounts were lost. But there’s a solution if it happened to you.

It turns out there was a major glitch when they updated their forum software last month and many user accounts, including those for some of the administrators, went to the great bit bucket in the sky. Anyone who lost an account was asked to create a new account, which I had to do.

Fortunately they were able to rescue our old posts, including theĀ  286 posts that I had written previously. If you were a member of the MozillaZine forums and lost your account last month, create your new account and post your user number in this topic. You’ll need to do a Google search for an old post and click the Profile button to get your old user number, and you won’t be able to log into the old account or edit your old posts, but but I was able to get my old account renamed in less than ten minutes. Now i just have to edit my signature line to include a link to my old posts.
