Valentine’s Day tees are ready to go, but …

It’s no secret that SecondLife has had a ton of issues the last several days. They did a server upgrade two days ago and started rolling restarts yesterday to push the new code out to all the servers, but there were serious performance hits and they had to roll back the update. But things still aren’t right in SecondLife and another set of rolling restarts are in progress as I type.

Gendarmerie Nationale to go Ubuntu

Chris Kenyon, Canonical’s director of business development, announced yesterday that the Gendarmerie Nationale, the French national police force, will be moving all of their almost 7,000 computers to Ubuntu.

Last night the Mozilla devs froze the code for the next major test version of Firefox 3 (Fx3), and I thought I’d give you all a progress report based on the latest nightly build.

Journey set to rock SecondLife

Journey, one of several rock bands that simply refuse to die (yea!) have bought an island in SecondLife and have planned a kicking grand opening party.

As expected, earlier this week the Bank of SecondLife pulled all of their ATMs and essentially closed up. But it was rapidly replaced with something that could be even better, the VCB.

The Senate could derail the economic stimulus packcage

Senators Clinton, Edwards, McCain and Obama: It’s tome to leave the campaign trail for a bit and get back to Washington. The Senate could derail, or at least delay, the economic stimulus package that the White House and the House of Representatives worked so hard to reach an agreement on.

There’s another reality series that I don’t hate

It’s kind of a known issue that I hate reality shows in general. So often they’re simply an excuse to fill up a time slot on a network’s program schedule, but there are a few reality shows I don’t mind. And now there’s a new one based on home break ins that I actually enjoy watching.
