Last evening LindenLabs finally took the 1.19.0.4 client that many of us have been sing in Release Candidate form for some time now and gave it an official release. (I would have blogged it last night but the announcement was kind of buried on the blog and I didn’t see it until I fired up Thunderbird to check my RSS feeds this morning.)

LindenLabs is ever so close to releasing the SecondLife 1.19.0 software to everyone, but they fixed a few more bugs and want to try a fifth Release Candidate before officially releasing 1.196.0. (They started with RC0, which is why the fifth RC is numbered RC4 rather than number five.)
As we’ve said before, RC4 is test software and not to be used by the general public yet. There are still bugs that could cause major problems, (Blahblah softwaretestercakes.) Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been meaning to write about some updates for Envy, that uber tool for installing graphics drivers in Linux, but I keep closing Thunderbird before remembering to write. There’s also a new plugin coming for Java, but you’ll need to use Firefox 3 to get the benefits of it. Read the rest of this entry »

On Tuesday I posted that Linden Labs has released a test version of their new Dazzle UI upgrade. I also included a schedule for rolling restarts to push some new code out to all the servers, but in what is becoming more frequent lately they found some serious problems in the code only after they started pushing out the updates. As a result the rolling restarts scheduled to end today have been rescheduled to Friday and Monday. Read the rest of this entry »
