I meant to post this a few days ago, but Ubuntu has released Alpha 6 of Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron.” Plus if you’re looking for some good financial management software for Linux I may have a program you are looking for. Read the rest of this entry »

Several sites, including BetaNews, has published that you can download Firefox 3 Beta 4. Unfortunately that news is premature, evidenced by the fact that BetaNews had to run a retraction when the devs realized that they missed a key component in the Windows builds that they were getting together. (I also have news on Thunderbird 3 below.) Read the rest of this entry »

I found this image while Stumbling around late last night and I just have to share it with you all.

Thanks to C-D-Rom for finding the original image and tagging it for Stumblers. And yes, that is the Ubuntu logo on Tux’s stomach.

I keep seeing that other blogs are linking back to this blog, which is fine, but the way it’s happening more often than not is not cool. This blog is published and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial- Share Alike 3.0 United States License. This means that while you should feel free to repost my content, especially if you link it back to my original post, but if you do you are required to identify who wrote the original post, either myself or Peng.
Here’s what the license says about attribution (you can always click on the license image to see the full terms of the license):
Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
I’m seeing too many times my content showing up on other blogs as “unknown wrote” or “soandso wrote”. Just today I saw that Peng’s post on Amazon supporting Linux with its MP3 sales has shown up on a Christian studies blog (which I have no problem with), but on the blog it shows that someone named Caleb write it. Obviously Caleb is the bot the blog owner uses for going out and finding content to use (you could say Caleb steals the content) because I’m seeing Caleb’s name on a lot of posts that obviously came from other blogs. I’d have already emailed the blog owner but they’ve chosen not to provide any contact links, let alone any information on who runs the blog. Could it be that they know content publishers would know they steal content to post on their Christian blog and don’t want to hear from us?
Here’s the deal. If you want to mention something I wrote I don’t mind, as long as you give credit where credit’s due. If you want to quote a paragraph from a post here and give a link back to this blog you may do so as long as you name the correct author of the post (either myself or Peng). If you chose to do either of these without crediting the author you can expect an email from me insisting (not asking) that you either give the author credit or take down the post. If you don’t have a contact link on your blog I will use your domain to find out who owns it and contact them. I also retain the right to contact your ISP and inform them of your theft of this blog’s intellectual property. Also, any linkbacks that show up in my comments that link to a site that doesn’t credit our authors gets marked as SPAM. That’s the way I’ve always treated linkbacks like that.
