WINE needs your votes

Posted by Peng on 14 March 2008

WINE, the ten yesr old open source program layer that lets Linux users run Windows programs (the name is an acronym for Wine Is Not an Emulator)  is preparing for their 1.0 release in June and needs your help deciding which bugs absolutely need to be fixed before WINE 1.0 ships.

According to the  developers mailing list there are 180 bugs worth fixing for WINE 1.0 and 63 bugs have already been fixed. But that leaves over 100 bugs and they simply can’t get to all of them in time.So they need users to vote for which bugs will get fixed.

Simply  log into Bugzilla (free registration is required), , find bugs from the ablove link that are important to you and click on the “Vote for this bug” link on the particular bug.

While I have moved to a Linux-only system I still rely on Wine to run a few things (although their use is getting less and less). Even if you’re like me and can’t code my way out of a soggy paper bag this is a way you can help get WINE 1.0 ready to ship.

Hugs thanks to  Marco Silva on Planet Ubuntu for bringing this to my attention.

  1. Excellent article and top site.

I wish that I could visit this area and taste the wine for myself.
However I have to content myself thousands of miles away here in Aussie with a bottle of the local.

You just can’t beat a good French drop.

    Cheers.

It’s not that kind of wine. Or are you simply trying to spam me? (which is why Nanci may flag your comment as spam the next time she’s on, or at least pull the URI from your comment.)
