Happy Half-Price Chocolate Day!

Posted by Nanci Barthelmess on 24 March 2008

It’s the day after Easter (or as my believer friends call it, Resurrection Sunday) and I hope the Easter Beagle brought you lots of goodies yesterday. But if not it’s the day after Easter, which means it’s also Half-Price Chocolate Day!

What’s Half-Price Chocolate Day (HPCD)? Only about the bestest four days of the year. It’s better than Valentine’s Day, your birthday and Chrismukkuh, possibly combined. As the day after a major candy giving holiday, it’s the day when retailers mark all of their holiday candy (especially chocolates) half off to try to sell what they have left. There’s actually four HPCDs every year

  1. The day after Valentine’s Day
  2. The day after Easter
  3. The day after Halloween
  4. The day after Chrismukkuh

If the retailers don’t get rid of everything they may mark what’s left 75% off in a week or so, but there’s no guarantee any sugary goodies will be left at that point, and if there are you probably don’t like what’s left anyway, which could explain why it hasn’t sold quickly enough to avoid the 75% markdown.

So at some point get thee hence to your favorite retailer’s of chocolates, whether it be the supermarket, pharmacy or chocolatier (although I’m not so sure a chocolatier will have much to mark down today) and get some extra chocolates and candies. No matter how awesome your Easter basket was, a girl can never have enough chocolate. And if your significant other didn’t buy it for you why shouldn’t you buy it for yourself? If they ask you to share you can always remind them that you had to get it for yourself because …

I know. I’m such a bad girl. ;)
