Now THAT’S how you start a season!

The Dodgers and Giants are in the top of the 2nd inning in the first game of the 2008 MLB season, and they’re playing in Los Angeles for the first time in way too long to start the season. And the Dodgers are showing the Giants that they showed up ready to play this game.
Former Dodger Dave Roberts started the game with a single, but three pitches later he got told to get his tail back to the bench when he got busted for the attempted theft of second base. It was three up, three down for the Giants to start the game and when Rafael took the first Dodger at bat for 2008 he got a ground rule double. Andrae Ethier showed that he’s not having a totally wonderful start to the season as he popped out, but old man Jeff Kent told the young guy it was okay and slammed the first homer of the young season.
After two complete innings it’s 4-to-zip, Dodgers, and if this is how they start the seasonĀ you have to hope Joe Torre knows how to avoid injury because if he can these boys mean bidnez!
I would have posted this on the Dodgers blog, but once again MLB.com has made the idiotic decision to publish every commenter’s email address for every spider and spammer to read. Peng dopeslapped them about that last year and they still haven’t changed it. But what can we expect from MLB.com? They partner with Microsoft for video content in a way that keeps an entire class of users from enjoying their content. So I guess they not only don’t want Linux users (or non-Windows users, because some Mac users wouldn’t be caught dead with Microsoft code on their iBooks) but they also don’t want the public participation of anyone who knows publishing an email address is like saying PLEASE SPAM ME. What a bunch of idiots.
Updated 7:14 PM EDT Mon 31 March: Close the book on this one. Final score Dodgers 5, Giants 0. Way to go, Dodgers! One game down, about a hundred sixty to go
