You can now preorder your Ubuntu Hardy CDs

Posted by BostonPeng on 18 April 2008

Ubuntu Hardy is scheduled to get uncaged on 24 April, and the Release
Candidate has been released
. But if you want to order your own CDs you can now get your pre-order in.

You can go to https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ and request your Ubuntu 8.04 “Hardy Heron” CDs now, and they’ll be shipped once they’re available. If you’re even a little curious about Ubuntu Hardy you should order a disk. It is, as always, a LiveCD that you can put into your computer to check out without making any changes in your current computer setup. Hardy also includes a new utility, umenu, that lets you install it within Windows so you can check out some of it while keeping the Windows installation that you currently know and are familiar with.

I’ll see about writing a full review of Ubuntu Hardy once everything gets locked down.

What actually installs it within Windows is called Wubi. Umenu is the new autorun application.

Thanks for the clarification. Not being a Windows user (by choice) I wasn’t aware it was two different things that Windows used.
