Peng and I aren’t the only ones who aren’t thrilled with Firefox 3
Posted by Nanci Barthelmess on 13 May 2008
It’s a known issue that Peng and I would rather use Firefox 2 than Firefox 3 and we figured there were more of us that hadn’t posted our displeasure online. There’s now another person who has posted a less than glowing recommendation for Firefox 3.
Matt Hartley has posted his review on OSWeekly.com, and while he does mention some good things about Firefox 3, especially for Vista (and he has a fantastic recommendation for Vista fans), he has found an area where Firefox 3 has yet to give him reasons to leave his current browser, Flock: RSS, which still isn’t as nice as Flock does RSS.
You can read his entire review on OSWeekly.com. And thanks for your comment on Peng’s post, Matt. I’m liking the Bug as well.

I’m eager to really use FF3, BUT it kept crashing on startup for me — to be fair, I was bypassing its disabling of older extensions that weren’t assured to be compatible, but there were some I simply couldn’t work without. I’m hoping more extensions I use will be compatible soon; at this point, seems like I’ll be arriving somewhat late on the FF3 train (but I DO like the fun robot art they’ve been using on their Beta pages!).

I know what you mean. I’ve had to find newer versions of some plugins and there are still plugins I don’t have available yet, like FLST. If you check the developer’s page for the extensions, and the Extension/Theme area of Mozillazine’s forums, you may find development versions that work with Firefox 3. I’ve got some that way, including Gmail Notifier. It turns out I simply can’t work without Gmail Navigator to keep up with my various Gmail accounts without it.
