Planet Mozilla: A close call…

Posted by Peng on 20 May 2008

As I was checking out the goings on at Planet Mozilla this am I came across a post that has nothing to do with Mozilla but that I simply have to share with y’all.

John O’Quinn found a picture of a soldier in Iraq today that put the fighting over there on a very personal level.

Most war footage shown in the US is very de-personalized, planes blowing up bridges, missiles blowing up buildings, etc. Body bags and returning wounded personnel get scant coverage. If you don’t look for the details, you might think it was all a glossy action movie, where no one gets hurt, and all the actors go home for dinner once the cameras stop. By contrast, this photo shows the very real dangers on a very personal level.

I won’t show you the picture he posts, but I dare you to go see it and not worry for this soldier, and the many over there like him, as well as their families.

I can’t find the photo on John’s site, but sounds interesting from your description.

Actually I just checked the link I provided and the picture showed up on John’s post.

  3. Very odd the way he is dressed. Not the way I would dress for combat were I a soldier.
