Mike Beltzner wrote yesterday on the Mozilla Development Blog that Firefox 3 will be officially released on Tuesday, 17 June. If you’re looking to participate in Firefox Download Day that’s the day to mark on your calendars. As I’ve already written, Nanci and I have decided we won’t be participating so you’re on your own to get the link to the festivities. (Any comments that post the link will be deleted, so please don’t go there.)
As I wrote yesterday Ubuntu has already jumped the gun a smidge by putting Firefox 3 final in hardy-proposed. While it may be splitting hairs, would it have killed anyone to wait to put it into hardy-proposed until early next week? If they wanted to test it all they had to do was label it RC2 (or RC3), like the other operating systems get. I love Ubuntu, but their handling of Mozilla products really tick me off, which is why I refuse to use their packages for Mozilla software, even if it is installed by default.
