Bank of America knocks one out of the park for the Cool Factor
Posted by BostonPeng on 5 August 2008
After long consideration I opened a new account with Bank of America today and I have to say that so far I’m really happy. Not only do I get my ATM card with the logo of my beloved LA Dodgers, despite living in the heart of Red Sox nation thanks to their My Expression program, they’ve changed their ATMs to do something so cool it makes me want to use them even more.
Usually when you make a deposit with an ATM you have to fill out a deposit slip and get a deposit envelope to put your deposit in. Well, not with Bank of America’s new ATMs. Now you just tell it if you’re depositing cash, checks or both, and when it comes time to put your deposit in one and/or two doors will open. If you’re depositing cash a door opens that can handle up to forty dollar bills at a time, and you can put dollars bills in as many batches as you need to in order to get your entire cash deposit in. Once it’s counted the bills are counted it not only tells you how much it received, it tells you how many bills in which denominations you submitted. That information is also printed on your deposit receipt.
If you’re depositing a check it will not only show you the appropriate info, but a picture of your check is printed right on your deposit receipt.
To make matters even better, BoA has finally begun officially supporting Mozilla Firefox. I couldn’t find a link to an official announcement, but I did see this on a page when I was logged in to my online banking. Click the picture to show the full size image.
Plus for opening the account with the requested minimum amount I’ll get $25 free once the account has been open for 90 days.
It seems reasons not to use Bank of America are reducing in number. I can’t wait to get my Dodgers ATM card. If I had ordered checks they’d have the Dodgers logo on them as well, but I do everything either via cash or via plastic so I don’t really need checks. I may change that later just to get checks with the Dodger logo.
Yeah, I’m a fan.

Wow! I may have to go to the bank with you sometime to check it out. I am getting a little unhappy with my current bank. Maybe it’s time for me to change banks, too.

We were happy with Bank of America for 37 years until we experienced identity theft and have been trying to get someone at the bank to replace the dollars debited out of our account. Their 800 number and fraud unit do not respond and we are in week 9 without response from them in spite of 3 letters, two visits to the local branch and 4 calls to their help line and multiple copies of our information. The bells and whistles are not worth much without customer service.
