About Nanci

I live in the Boston area, and I am a firm believer in freedom of choice when it comes to my computer. That’s why I run Ubuntu Linux for my OS. (I recently stopped using a dual booting system with WinXP, which I had set up for those rare times when running a program in Wine or VMware would just take longer than I have. I’m glad to be able to make the switch, and I’m even happier that Ubuntu Gutsy made it so easy to get rid of XP.) I also use Mozilla Firefox for my web browser (but not the version from the Ubuntu repos so I can take advantage of updates faster) and I use Thunderbird for my email client.

Granted, if you ran into me on the street you probably won’t recognize me, but I like it that way. The name I’m using here is the name of my avatar on SecondLife, and I tend to keep my SecondLife more or less separate from my First Life.

An original blog for a true original! Love the layout – very crisp and clean. Sorry it took me so long to comment here! Although I do have to say, every time I read the title of this blog I start singing it to the tune of that VanHalen classic, “Just a Gigalo…” sorry! BAD Susannah! BAD!

Thanks, hon. But does this mean that when I crash while camping at HippiePay (where they supposedly “can’t do anything” about the loss of earned Lindens when you crash, like i believe that) I should log in, doft a top hat and start dancing as I sing “I’m so sad and lonely…”?

    /me giggles

Awww…come on now…you? sad and lonely? Puh-lease! Sad and broke, I’d buy. Lonely? With your charm, wit, and (dare I type it?) sexiness? I seriously doubt you are ever lonely for long. ;-)

Actually Ubuntu is built upon Debian, so I’m part way there already. I actually like having to download things I need. Peng’s shown me how to get newer versions than what’s in the repos, I did make the move to Hardy Beta, and Peng and I are talking about things we like and dislike in it. We’ll have a full post once Hardy is released in 25 days,.

Thanks for the comment! We love hearing from our readers! :)

i want to build my carrier in linux
so, could you please help me to clear R.H.C.E exam i will be greatfull to you mam. i realy need your help.

  11. Nanci Barthelmess Says:

Sorry, I’m not the one to help with that. I’m just a Linux user so the RHCE would be way over my head. I asked Peng about it and he said he couldn’t help you either with your Red Hat exam. Good luck on the exam!
