A bug was discovered that made the random number generator that helped create your .ssh/id_rsa key less random than it should have been. What does this mean in plain English? It means that if you created an SSH key with Ubuntu Feisty, Ubuntu Gutsy, Ubuntu Hardy or Debian Etch you need to update an important OpenSSL file and regenerate your key ASAP. When I was a Windows user one of the apps that I loved was the WeatherBug. There are some Linux tools for getting weather information, but none of them rise to the level of information provided by WeatherBug. but now I find out that WeatherBug is adding a Linux version to their Mac and Windows offerings. Last year Nanci posted that there were grammar checking tools for OpenOffice.org, the wonderful open source office suite, that takes care of one of the most glaring omissions and deal breakers in people looking for a cheaper alternative to Microsoft Office. Unfortunately there seems to be a bit of a glitch with it in Ubuntu Hardy. Luckily there is an easy way to fix it. Read the rest of this entry »

[Corrected the info on using Street View in Google Earth. - Peng]
Google released the beta of Google Earth 4.3 a couple weeks ago, and there are some very nice features added including the sun and atmosphere, a new set of navigation tools, and even an implementation of Street View, although the GE Street View isn’t as easy as the one in Google Maps.
