In the past I’ve written about CatThief’s Zoomer extension for Firefox 3, which brought text zooming back to Mozilla’s newest browser. It was a welcome relief to all of us who prefer to zoom our text, not the entire web page. Unfortunately the extension has been updated for what should be the final release of Firefox 3 (no, it isn’t here yet), but something changed on it that may want to make you hold off on accepting the update if you haven’t gotten it yet.

One of the biggest changes coming in Firefox 3 is the switch from being able to switch the text with the keyboard to zooming the entire page, and it’s no secret that this tester is not happy with the change (nor are a lot of other testers). It’s a known issue that I hate the new zoom paradigm in Firefox 3, but someone’s posted a comment in the bug for it that brings up an interesting point. I’d comment there but I’ve done enough advocacy commenting there so I’ll post it here in hopes of getting my comment seen and generating a little discussion. Read the rest of this entry »

Tuesday Mozilla released the first beta of Firefox 3, and while it’s got some really nice improvements this user sees more reasons not to use it than the simple fact that it’s a beta release. Read the rest of this entry »
